Nothing beats sipping a sunset cocktail in a rooftop bar with a panoramic city view. It’s one of my favorite experiences in Europe! And in beautiful Barcelona, there is no shortage of trendy bars to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Med, Gaudi’s famous Sagrada Familia or wide tree-lined boulevards in this sparkling city. It’s not easy to choose among the best rooftop bars in Barcelona.

rooftop bar Barcelona

Terraces are such a big deal in Barcelona that there’s even an annual “rooftop week” (Semana de las Terrazas) where dozens of local hotels kick off summer with gourmet tapas tastings and special events. It’s truly the best of Barcelona.

The Best Rooftop Bars in Barcelona

1. Terrat, Mandarin Oriental’s Rooftop Bar

Passeig de Gràcia, 38

Looking for bars with a view of Barcelona? At Terrat, you’ll look out over Gaudi’s famous Casa Batlló! The Mandarin Oriental offers an unforgettable spot to wind down the evening.

I wish I could teleport there right now…

While the pool is only open to guests staying at the hotel, everyone else is welcome to enjoy the views in the bar.

Terrat is open Sun to Thurs 12 pm to midnight and to 1 am on Friday and Saturday.

2. 1881 Per SAGARDI Rooftop Bar

Palau de Mar, Plaça de Pau Vila, 3

This is one of Barcelona’s best rooftop bars! It’s perched on top of the famous Museu d’Historia de Catalunya (the Catalan History Museum) and sometimes overlooks a fleet of swank yachts nestled in Barcelona’s beautiful Port Vell on the Med.

We had a beautiful evening here after a day of admiring all of Barcelona’s famous art and architecture just before our incredible food tour the following day. As the sun goes down, the DJ cranks up the volume on the tunes he’s spinning. Decor is minimalist and inviting.

In short, it’s the perfect spot to sip cava or cool off with a glass of Sangria or vino tinto. If you choose a barstool harbor side, you can quiz yourself on the famous Barcelona landmarks dotting the skyline, with a little help from the handy illustrations tableside.

Barcelona is such a beautiful city! Love the views from these rooftop bars. On my first visit to Spain, I stayed at an Airbnb with views of the Sagrada Familia. It was magical. I’m itching to go back to Barcelona!

Me too, Emily. We stayed in the Eixample at the front end of our trip and the Gothic on the way home. They were both beautiful neighborhoods. I want to try them all now!

Rooftop bars are literally my favorite thing to do in every city! Thank you for this great and informative post. It definitely gives such a great sense of which bars are more laid back and chill and which ones are more of a party-time vibe. So helpful!

I think the map is an excellent touch too!

I think Casa Bonay is my spirit rooftop bar 🙂 Did you have a favorite one while you were there?

Haha! I love the idea of a personal “spirit rooftop bar.” I wish I’d had a comprehensive list of them all when I was there…which is why I wrote this post! I really loved the bar at the museum overlooking the marina 🙂
